Burn Baby Burn!

Cairn loves to cook. She giggles every time Grant flips a pancake and he has been "teaching" her how to do it herself. So she is fascinated with the spatula, the stove and anything on it.

Twice now she has been on the chair helping Mommy mix and stir when she has looked over and seen the small front right burner. Twice now (these two times separated by about a month) she has reached over to touch it and play with it... and not responded when I've scolded her and mimicked it being hot. So twice now I've briefly turned it onto low (just long enough to make it warm) and let her touch it without extra admonitions...

She hasn't so much as reached for the burner since the last incident a week ago, so I'm incredibly hopeful that the lesson has gotten through.

On the flipside of the story Grant's teaching has been mostly effective as to my astonishment she flipped one of those beautiful blender pancakes all the way to the floor in the time it took me to grab a plate to put them on.

Blender Pancakes:
1 c milk
1 c wheat berries
Blend together 2-3 minutes
1/2 c milk
Blend another 2-3 minutes
1 egg
1/2 - 1 tsp salt
2 Tbs sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1/4-1/3 c oil
Blend some more then cook those babies up!
