We went to DI to let her pick a present from us then on up to the Stratton's for the day. The balloons and pile of presents really made her feel like a fairy princess! Especially when she dawned the fairy headband, her new sunglasses and waved her fairy wand! But wave that wand as she would we didn't let her open presents until after lunch... oh you could just feel the anticipation flow from her! Once we put them in front of her the unwrapping frenzy began and she all but ignored the goggles and phone and blocks until all tape and paper had been taken off.
And then Cammy brought out her present for Cairn and it was love at first sight:
At this point I'd like to jump to a different story. It is a sad tale of a much treasured, much used member of our family. About a month ago my camera suffered a fatal fall... well it suffered many gravity and Cairn caused afflictions and finally it just out and jumped from the top shelf where Grant had just placed it. And thus commenced the dark, pictureless, nearly postless time.
We asked for a camera for my graduation gift from the Strattons... and then had to wait until I was officially graduated.... And I got to open my camera after Cairn opened all of her gifts. So any pictures of the girl before that will have to come from them.
With that in mind... here's a picture of Cerise (7 weeks old) for all of ya'll who've complained we haven't posted any:
(I took this just for the post, and now that I'm about to publish it she's still asleep so you'll have to wait for another snapshot)
And for comparison's sake (and since Cairn's pics from this young aren't posted here), here's some 2 month pictures of Cairn:
(Yes, we hung our baby in the closet! Osh-Kosh makes some strong overalls!)
But not to be sidetracked...
After riding her bike (which was a perfect gift for her since Grant just got a bike to ride to school on and she's been obsessed with it) we went swimming. And this girl of ours performed two amazing feats.
First she rode the dog. When he refused to swim any more she came inside to get Grandma to swim too. Cairn is just energetic enough and stubborn enough to pull off things like that. And I don't think she'll grow out of it completely.
