"No! No! No!"

A while ago Cerise decided to panic every time she woke up in middle of the night confined to the crib.  It took me a few minutes every time to calm her down enough to start getting her back to sleep.
So we experimented.  And now there is no crib.  She sleeps on her mattress on the floor (just like Cairn).
Now if she wakes up she crawls toward my room calling out "mamamamam" the whole way (which is a much more pleasant noise to wake up to in middle of the night, if anything about waking up in middle of the night can be called pleasant) and I just scoop her up and put her back on the mattress with a little snuggle and she's usually out again.
This method is not without it's own problems.  The foremost of them being her propensity to roll off the bed and wake up... so on a bad night she wakes up an extra time or two.  But I think she'll learn to stay on her bed a lot faster than she would have learned to be happy in a cage.

Now onto the real story.  Last night.

Cairn was having nightmares.  Twice she screamed out "No! No! No!" Twice I went in to calm her down.  Twice she woke Cerise so I had to get her settled also.
And then at 6:20 this morning (two minutes before the weekday alarm would go off for Grant to wake up... but this is Saturday and who sets an alarm for a day off?!) I hear it again and decide to stay in bed this time... this is what I heard:

No! No! No!
Ah brrrbrrrbrrr (and Cerise is mattress crunkling like she's crawling)
No! No! No!
Ah mamam Brrr baba
No!  My blankie!
Ah ba ba ba (then Cerise laughed and I don't know how to type that sound)
Mommy Mommy Mommy!
Ah ma ma ma
Mommy!
Ah ma ma ma (accompanied with the sound of Cerise crawling in the hall and into my room)

Needless to say they were both in bed with us shortly after... and then every one except Grant were out of bed just minutes after that.

The joys of Mommyhood.
