Beautiful Logan Canyon

 October 024 October 040

I have to say first and foremost… I love Grant.  He’s so handsome!  But that’s not why… He stole the camera on this outing because he remembered that there’s usually no pictures of me anywhere.  So almost all of the following are his doing!

We went up Logan Canyon to while away some time (and to try to convince me to move up there I think…).  Our first stop was here:

October 025

Next to a nice flowing… freezing river.  Ok, I guess technically it wasn’t freezing, but any fingers and toes left in for too long surely would!

It was beautiful to romp around the fallen yellow leaves.  Patti and Cammy had driven up this way earlier to collect fall foliage for pretty arrangements in their living and dining rooms.  During that excursion some one had pulled over and asked if they were berry picking then proceeded to teach them a bit about the wild delicious berries and plants that they could run across.

All they could find was something that wouldn’t be ripe until after the first heavy snow fall so we didn’t get to sample the local cuisine.  Which I guess is forgivable…

The girls certainly didn’t mind.  They tramped up and down the river bed making all sorts of fantastic discoveries, mostly things having to do with the water.  And then the fun really began when Cairn somehow remembered a fun game she invented once upon a hike called ‘Throw sticks in the water!’

And they were off to find twigs, branches, rocks, leaves… anything they could heft went in.  And when they wanted more sticks all they had to do was beg!

Grant grabbed a shot of his Dad that he was really proud of… you’d have to ask him why because I seemed to miss it.  And he captured the beautiful scenery (remember he’s best with non-moving targets)    October 029        October 038

Then we tried to get a family picture where we all looked good…

October 2

After we grown ups got a bit bored at throwing sticks into the river we piled back into the cars and headed further up the canyon… Cairn wanted to play in snow.

October 3

We all threw snow balls (it may look like Grant’s aiming at his poor innocent unsuspecting daughter, but he had actually started to throw it at me when I pulled out my camera as a deflector shield) and made snow people.  We even chased a little chipmunk around… he just wouldn’t pose for me!

As we were getting into the car Cairn started screaming that her feet hurt… thus the picture of Grandma and Grandpa defrosting her red toes…
