Cairn insisted on holding a skewer with meat to "help" cook breakfast. And why didn't I pull over our cooler to sit on rather than squatting the whole time??!
The weather was perfect and Grant's and my homework magically decreased to next to nill on the same weekend so we took the opportunity and ran!
We camped Friday night at Reef Townsite Campground just south of Fort Huachuca then wandered around Bisbee (and climbed a few of the stairs) Saturday. It wasn't until just now that the few pictures we took were all from the camping part and none from the Bisbee part...
Cairn is an outdoors girl already. She refused to be carried as we trekked back and forth unloading the car, hiked as far from the campsite as we'd let her by herself, and "helped" with every step of setting up the tent... Let me tell you even laying down the tarp turned into a time consuming but oh so fun activity with her their climbing on it and rolling on it and begging to be given a ride on it! And then she got inside the tent before we had it fully assembled so the whole tent jumped around as Grant and I struggled to get the poles in.
And then of course cooking over the fire! Our one red camp chair became her throne (it assured us she would stay away from the beautiful fire ring we built) and she oversaw and directed every thing with her babbling. By the way, building fires is a lot easier when only one person is in charge. Our last camping trip to California there were 3 guys standing around arguing about the proper way to get the fire going every time and every time the two directing did something to mess up the one building...
Bisbee, for those who don't know is an old mining town turned tourist trap. Some of the houses were really cute and obviously well kept... others weren't. So after wandering up and down a few sets of stairs we popped into random art galleries on Main Street. I found a landscape of a Sonoran Desert sunset that I liked. Cairn found a huge wrought iron armadillo that she fell in love with. Grant came out of each shop beaming, declaring that looking at art makes me more beautiful. I love that guy.
