Your Son

After sending this email to Grant I thought, "Hey! This sounds worthy of a blog!"  Eventually I'll slip in a picture I took this morning: Cairn was reading to me, Cerise helped make the bread and Gauge was in the middle of it all.

And here it is:

Gauge has been following me around ALL morning.

You saw him helping with the bread before breakfast, sitting on the counter between Cairn and Cerise.  Well, it continues.

We were out hanging the laundry.  Instead of digging in the dirt or handing me the laundry pins like he usually does he took notice of the birds singing in the trees.  He put down his apple (by the way, he's now working on Cairn's apple that she abandoned in a fit of dismay at never getting to the movie on time... yeah, the movie that starts in over an hour).  Back to Gauge.  He put down his apple and walked towards the singing saying "Ii-ll bud um do me."  That's right.  "Little bird, come to me."

Unfortunately this cuteness ended as he squatted down to say "Poo-poo coming! Sit on toilet!"  So we ran to sit on the toilet.  For five minutes with no result.  I left him bare bottom and decided to watch him like a hawk.  Regardless of watching him I couldn't get him to the toilet on time.  He stopped halfway there to drop it on the carpet.

As I cleaned it up Cairn brought him to sit on the toilet since he said there was more.  No more poop, but he did pee in the toilet!

Like I said he's been following me all morning.  Which means he's also helped take out the compost, water the garden and mop the floor.  He's been super cute about it all... and I"m trying to enjoy it.  But I'm running on limited energy with a lot to do!  Getting the house company ready is going to be a miracle with Gauge being so helpful!
