Tanque Verde Canyon

No matter how long I live around the Catalina Mountains, it always feels like there's more to discover. Today's adventure: Tanque Verde Canyon.

So, right away from the signs that line every hiking trail into the canyon (there are many) you can tell alot about what this hike is like.

This is what it looks like from above...

And from inside....

Once we got in, we all took off shoes and played in the water. It was freezing this time of year. Then Carin and Cerise and I (Grant) all took an adventure hiking up the canyon. The girls stopped for several glamor shots of them hiking up the canyon (I only encouraged this a little!)

Then we took the other way down the canyon as a whole family. It wasn't long before we got to a big dropoff right before Tanque Verde falls, with more warning signs about certain death and whatnot.

From this side you couldn't even get down to the falls.. the rocks get worn so smooth about 200 yards from the top of the falls that its impossible to climb down them with a baby in tow. Next time we'll approach Tanque Verde falls from downstream.
